Nitrofurantoin 50mg capsules should be taken with food or milk and swallowed whole. The usual dose for treatment of infections is one capsule taken four times a day. For prevention, the dose is one capsule taken at bedtime. When taking Nitrofurantoin, you should make sure to follow the instructions given to you by your doctor.
The active ingredient in the tablets is Nitrofurantoin. The other ingredients are Lactose, Maize Starch, Pregelatinised Maize Starch, Sodium Starch Glycollate and Magnesium Stearate.

This medicine contains lactose and sucrose (sugars). If you have been told by your doctor that you are intolerant to some sugars and have to avoid them, make sure to contact your doctor before taking this prescription only medicine. Nitrofurantoin Capsules may cause dizziness and drowsiness. You should not drive or operate machinery if you are affected this way until such symptoms go away.
