Over recent years the online pharmacy sector has grown rapidly, this has helped those in remote areas to access medication as well as adding a great deal of convenience for those who do not have the time, or inclination, to get to their GP or local pharmacy.
Inevitably, along with the legitimate services, there has also been an increase in unscrupulous operators coming into the sector, selling illegal and unsafe medication.
In order to ensure the safety and wellbeing of patients in the UK, the Care Quality Commission (CQC) has recently updated its regulations for digital healthcare providers.
Part of these new guidelines require all users of online pharmacies to verify their identity, in the same way as you would do when registering with a new GP.
All patients, both new and existing, are required to do this on just one occasion.
We have partnered with Onfido.com who will check the personal information you have already disclosed (name/age/address only) against the electoral roll and credit agencies, as outlined in our terms and conditions.
If you pass this check, you will not hear from us again.
In the event that Onfido are unable to access this information, you will receive an email asking you to send over a copy of your photo ID and a utility bill. Importantly, once your information has been verified by Onfido, it will be deleted.
Please note that until your identity has been confirmed we will be unable to dispatch your order.
Onfido operates in 132 countries and checks the identities of customers for some of the biggest companies in the world. They are registered with all of the relevant Data Protection bodies. They never carry out any checks without the applicant’s consent.
This should be a relatively straightforward process, however, if for any reason you have trouble completing the verification process, we are here to help. Just call us on 01295 262925 and we will walk you through the process.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.
