What is Caverject?

Caverject is a clinically proven treatment for erectile dysfunction. The drug is administered by injection and has an almost immediate effect.

The active ingredient in Caverject is alprostadil, a manufactured hormone which is the same as prostoglandin E1, a chemical that occurs naturally in the body. Prostoglandin E1 is a strong vasodilator and is alprostadil is used in a range of medical contexts to dilate veins and thin the blood. If a person suffers from erectile dysfunction, Caverject is effective as it helps to improve the blood flow to the penis, thereby making it easier to achieve an erection.

What is Caverject used for?

As men age, the physiological processes required to get an erection tend to operate less effectively; Caverject can solve that problem.

Caverject is one of the most effective treatments for erectile dysfunction, with around 70% of men achieving an erection powerful enough for them to have sex.  Despite this, Caverject is often the last impotence treatment recommended by GPs for a number of reasons; standard practice is to recommend PDE-5 inhibitors, such as Cialis, in the first instance and only offer alprostadil if the PDE-5 inhibitors are unsuccessful.

How do you take Caverject?

Caverject comes in two forms: Caverject Dual Chamber and Caverject Vials. The active part of both the vial and dual chamber is the Caverject powder. The main difference is that, if you buy the vials, you will need to mix the powder with the supplied liquid solution together before injecting, whereas if you opt for the dual chamber, the solution and powder chambers are in the device; all you have to do to mix them is turn the plunger.

Caverject is injected into the corpus cavernosum; the soft, spongy tissue on either side of the penis shaft. The alprostadil will start working straight away, thinning the blood and widening the vessels. Most men will get an erection within 5-10 minutes.  You shouldn’t use Caverject more than three times a week, or more than once in 24 hours, and you should take care to change the site of injection.

How long does Caverject last?

Caverject usually lasts for 30-60 minutes, but this varies from person to person, and can depend on the dosage.

Caverject dosage.

It is important that you get the right dosage of Caverject, as too high a dose can result in a painful erection. Caverject is available in 10, 20 or 40 microgram doses; it is advisable that you start with a lower dose and work your way up if you need to.

How much does Caverject cost?

The cost of Caverject depends on the dosage and the quantity that you require but, typically, prices start from £14.99 for one dose.

Ordering Caverject online.

At Oxford Online Pharmacy, we know that there many reasons why men don’t want to consult their GP about erectile dysfunction. Our online service is safe, quick and convenient; your discreet package can be on your doorstep as soon as tomorrow.

Simply add your product to your cart, and when you check out you will be asked to complete our online consultation. If you do this before 3.00 p.m., your order will be despatched on the same day. If we have a query about your order: for example, if the doctor thinks that you need a different dose to the one that you have added to your cart, we will be in touch with you to amend the details of your order. Ordering your erectile dysfunction medication online doesn’t get quicker, easier or safer than Oxford Online Pharmacy.

Alternative treatments to Caverject

Every person is unique, and what works for one person may not necessarily be the best option for another. At Oxford Online Pharmacy, you can also buy Viridal and Muse, which contain alprostadil, the same active ingredient as Caverject.

Other erectile dysfunction treatments available online are: Cialis, Sildenafil, Levitra, Spedra, Tadalafil, Viagra and ED pumps. We also offer trial packs, to help you to find the treatment that works best for you.

Side effects of Caverject

Whilst Caverject is known as an effective treatment of erectile dysfunction, some users experience side effects. These can include:

  • Penis pain. This is a common side effect, with more than 1 in 10 users reporting penis pain. However, the pain is short-lived. If the pain doesn’t pass quickly, or if it is very severe, seek medical attention.
  • Mild bruising, discolouration or swelling at the injection site. This isn’t uncommon the first few times you use Caverject, but will diminish over time.
  • Scarring, bruising or bending of the penis. This is an uncommon side effect and is more likely to occur when someone has been using Caverject or a similar treatment for a long time. If this happens, speak to your doctor; they may advise that you stop using it for a while.
  • Painful and prolonged erections. This can occur if the dose is too high. If you have had an erection for more than four hours, seek medical advice.
  • Muscle spasms.

There are a few uncommon side effects of Caverject, which affect less than 1 in 100 users. If you experience any of the following, you should seek medical attention immediately:

  • Swelling, inflammation or irritation around the injection site – these may be itchy or bleed.
  • Numbness.
  • Swollen, red or painful testicles.
  • An erection that lasts more than 4 hours.
  • Lumps in the testicles – these could be spermatoceles; small cysts containing sperm.
  • Changes to blood pressure or heart rhythm.
  • Changes to urination or trouble urinating, e.g. needing to urinate more frequently pain while urinating or difficulty urinating.
  • Blood in the urine – this can be the result of accidentally injecting the medicine into the urethra.
  • Pelvic pain, sweating, nausea, weakness, or flu-like symptoms.

Who shouldn’t use Caverject?

Not all drugs are suitable for all patients. You shouldn’t take any alprostadil products if:

  • You are at risk of priapism (a painful, prolonged erection that lasts over 6 hours);
  • You have a disease or injury of your urethra or penis;
  • You have been advised not to have penetrative sex;
  • You have had leukaemia, bone marrow cancer, or sickle cell disease;
  • You are allergic to alprostadil.

If you have any questions about getting erectile dysfunction treatment online, please get in touch.
