Sildenafil tablets are used to treat men with erectile dysfunction, also known as impotence.Sildenafil belongs to a group of medicines called phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors. They work by helping to relax the blood vessels in your penis, allowing blood to flow into your penis when you get sexually excited. Sexual stimulation is required for it to work.
Sildenafil is not licensed in the UK for women.
Sildenafil 100mg tablets should be kept out of reach and sight of children. It should not be stored above 30 degrees celcius.
Sildenafil Sandoz100mg tablets should be taken whole, with a glass of water. The recommended dose is one tablet taken one hour before sexual activity. Do not chew the tablet. Do not take more than one tablet in any 24 hour period as this will not increase the effect.
The active ingredient in these tablets is Sildenafil. The other ingredients are Calcium, Hydrogen Phosphate Anhydrous, Microcrystalline Cellulose, Copovidone, Croscarmellose Sodium, Magnesium Stearate, Saccharin Sodium and Indigo Carmine Aluminium Lake (E132).
Sildenafil 100mg should not be taken if you are allergic to any of the ingredients in the medicine. You should not take Sildenafil if you are taking medicines called nitrates or nitric oxide donors (poppers), if you have a severe heart of liver problem, if you have recently had a stroke or heart attack, if you have low blood pressure, if you have certain rare inherited eye diseases or if you have ever had loss of vision because of non-arteritic anterior ischaemic optic neuropathy (NAION).
You should speak to your doctor before taking Sildenafil if you have sickle cell anaemia, leukaemia, multiple mysloma, if you have a deformity of your penis, or Peyronie's disease, if you have problems with your heart, if you have a stomach ulcer or a bleeding disorder or if you experience sudden decrease or loss of vision.
You should make sure to mention if you are taking any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription. You should not use Sildenafil along with any other erectile dysfunction medicines, or if you are taking medicines called nitrates, poppers. You should speak to your doctor before taking Sildenafil if you are taking protease inhibitors, such as for the treatment of HIV. Sildenafil may interfere with some medicines, paricularly ones used to treat chest pains.
As with all medicines, Sildenafil can cause some side effects, although not everybody gets them. You should stop taking Sildenafil and speak to your doctor immediately if you experience any allergic reactions to the tablets. You should contact your doctor immediately if you experience the following symptoms are taking Sildenafil: sudden wheeziness, difficulty in breathing, dizziness, swelling of the eyelids, face, lips or throat or if you have an erection which lasts for more than 4 hours.
Other side effects include headache, facial flushing, indigestion, effects on vision, stuffy nose, dizziness, vomiting, skin rash, bleeding at the back of the eye, eye irritation, bloodshot/red eyes, eye pain, double vision, abnormal sensation in the eye, irregular or rapid heartbeat, muscle pain, feeling sleepy, reduced sense of touch, vertigo, ringin in the ears, nausea, dry mouth, chest pain, feeling tired, high blood pressure, low blood pressure, fainting, stroke, nosebleed, sudden decrease or loss of hearing, pounding heartbeat, chest pain, sudden death, heart attack or temporary decreased blood flow to parts of the brain, convulsions, seizures and serious skin reactions, such as rash, blsiters, peeling skin and pain.
