Zonisamide is is an anticonvulsant (antiseizure) medication that is either used as an initial therapy for epilepsy or as an add-on drug for difficult-to-control seizures. It is used as an antiepileptic medicine.
Zonisamide is used to treat seizures that affect one part of the brain (partial seizure), which may or may not be followed by a seizure affecting all of the brain (secondary generalisation).
This medication comes in three different strengths, 25, 50 and 100mg tablets.

How to use Zonisamide Capsules (25mg, 50mg & 100mg) - PET Prescription
Always follow dosing instructions from your vet.
Zonisamide can be taken orally, swallowed as a pill, or compounded into an oral liquid. If your pet vomits or acts sick after receiving this medication, offer it to them along with food or a little treat.
Within 1-2 days, the medication should start to take effect. Avoid stopping this drug abruptly to prevent seizures.

Pets who take zonisamide may experience the following side effects: drowsiness, lack of coordination when moving about, vomiting, and loss of appetite.
