If you’re one of the many Brits now prescribed GLP-1 weight management medications like Wegovy or Mounjaro, you’ve likely noticed your relationship with food has changed. And that’s a good thing.
These medications work by regulating appetite, slowing how quickly food leaves your stomach and reducing cravings for high-fat, high-sugar options. As a result, you’re more likely to favour smaller, nutrient-rich meals over calorie-dense comfort food.
But what happens when you're eating out? While portion sizes, rich dishes and indulgent menus might sound like a recipe for disaster, Oxford Online Pharmacy’s latest study reveals it doesn’t have to be.
We reviewed 50 of the UK’s most popular sit-down restaurant chains to identify which ones best cater to diners on appetite-regulating medications. The results? There’s plenty to tuck into – without overdoing it.
Small plates and smarter picks: Which restaurants are best?
Top of the table is Zizzi, which boasts a whopping 133 options suitable for those on weight loss medication. Think grilled meats, roasted veggies, fresh salads, and small-plate starters like burrata and garlic pork meatballs.
Nando’s clinched second place with 123 options. While famous for flame-grilled chicken, it also offers plant-based choices like The Great Imitator Wrap and 24 different sharing dishes.
Comptoir Libanais and Miller & Carter share third place with 103 light-bite-friendly options each. Don’t be fooled by Miller & Carter’s steakhouse image - it offers grilled lobster tail, mini desserts, and lighter starters to suit your smaller appetite.
Other notable mentions:
- Wahaca – Great for fresh and seasonal dishes (96 options)
- Bill’s – Ideal for lighter bites and healthy sides (86 options)
In contrast, The Ivy, Honest Burger and Hard Rock Café lagged behind, offering fewer menu items suited to reduced appetite and clean eating preferences.

Why this matters
Dining out isn’t just about eating – it’s about socialising, celebrating and enjoying yourself. Feeling limited or excluded from the experience because you’re managing your weight or health doesn’t have to be the norm.
This study aims to empower people to continue enjoying restaurant dining with a few menu tweaks and a more mindful approach to eating. It’s about enjoying yourself, not depriving yourself.
Our methodology
Our team at Oxford Online Pharmacy analysed the menus of 50 leading UK restaurant chains, filtering out takeaways, cafés and brands no longer trading. We examined publicly available menus for each restaurant, looking for:
- Dishes listed under ‘small plates’, ‘starters’, ‘nibbles’ or sharers
- Mentions of healthy cooking methods like grilling, steaming, poaching or roasting
- Meals highlighting ‘fresh’ or ‘seasonal’ ingredients
- Vegetarian or plant-based dishes
- Whole foods (vegetables, legumes, lean proteins)
Data was gathered and compiled in June 2025, using Q1 2025 YouGov popularity data to prioritise restaurants.
Final Thought
GLP-1 medications don’t mean dining out is off the table – it just means the table might look a little different. Choosing restaurants that cater to smaller portions and whole-food options can make meals out feel indulgent without overindulgence.
Want to make the most of mealtimes while on weight loss meds? Here are some useful tips:
- Research the menu before you go
- Only order what you think you can eat
- Look for smaller portion options
- Share any concerns with the people you’re dining with
- Make light dinner intentions clear with the waiting staff
