Product Information for Wegovy Injection (0.25mg + 0.5mg) Starter Pack for Weight Loss
Wegovy injections are a once-weekly treatment for weight loss in adults. They contain Semaglutide which helps patients lose weight by reducing hunger signals, helping people feel fuller for longer periods of time and slowing down the rate at which the stomach empties. (2)

Do I need to start on the lowest dose of Wegovy injections?
It’s important for your weight loss journey to know what the right Wegovy dose is for you. Depending on your situation you may not need to start on the lowest dose of Wegovy injections:
If you have never taken a GLP-1 weight loss medication like Wegovy or Mounjaro before, or you are taking Orlistat, Alli, Xenical or Mysimba, you will need to start on the lowest dose of 0.25mg.
Starting on the lowest dose of Wegovy helps your body get used to the active ingredient (Semaglutide) and avoid harsh side effects. This does not mean you won’t experience side effects at all – nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, constipation and other GI issues are common – but it will help you avoid them being too severe (2).
If switching you are switching from Mounjaro injections to Wegovy injections you may not need to restart at the lowest dose. Below is our Mounjaro to Wegovy injection switching guide:
Current Mounjaro dose | Recommended Wegovy injection dose | Gap between switching |
|---|---|---|
2.5mg | 0.25mg | 7 days |
5mg | 0.5mg | 7 days |
7.5mg | 1mg | 7 days |
10mg | 1mg | 7 days |
12.5mg | 1.7mg | 7 days |
15mg | 2.4mg | 7 days |
If you are currently taking the Wegovy pill and want to switch to Wegovy injections, you also may not have to start on the lowest dose of injection. Below is our Wegovy pill to injection switching guide:
Current Wegovy pill dose | Recommended Wegovy injection dose | Gap between switching |
|---|---|---|
1.5mg | 0.25mg | Next day |
4mg | 0.5mg | Next day |
9mg | 1mg or 1.7mg | Next day |
25mg | 2.4mg | Next day |
You should always discuss switching from Wegovy pills and Mounjaro to Wegovy injections with your prescriber to get advice on how to switch safely.
How do I increase my Wegovy injection dose?
During the course of your Wegovy treatment, you will increase your dose in steps up to the licensed maintenance of 2.4mg (or 7.2mg if you need a higher strength maintenance dose) (2). The typical dose increase for Wegovy injections (titration) looks like:
0.25mg → 0.5mg → 1mg → 1.7mg → 2.4mg → 7.2mg (if needed). (2)
As each pen contains four doses, you will administer one dose a week for a full month of treatment. Once you have administered all doses in each pen and are not experiencing any severe side effects, you can increase your dose. For example, you will take 0.25mg for one month and increase to 0.5mg the following month.
This starter pack covers your first two months of Wegovy treatment, so you can easily increase from 0.25mg to 0.5mg without having to re-order or fill in another consultation.
When should I not increase my Wegovy injection dose?
If you are experiencing severe side effects at any dose, you can stay on that dose for another month, or drop down a dose, until your side effects settle. Equally, if you have reached your maintenance dose or have reached your weight loss goal you do not have to increase your dose. You can discuss any side effects, dose increases or decreases with your prescriber.

How to use Wegovy Injection (0.25mg + 0.5mg) Starter Pack for Weight Loss
Before injecting:
Check the expiration date, dose amount and do not use the pen if it has been frozen, is cloudy or if there is discolouration.
Pull off the pen cap and attach a new needle (NovoFine Plus, NovoFine, or NovoTwist, up to 8mm) before each injection.
The needle is covered by two caps. Remove both caps. Keep the first cap which you will need later and dispose of the second.
Check the flow before injection (see patient information leaflet for how to do this properly)
Turn the dose selector until the dose counter stops and shows your prescribed dose.
Choose your injection site– upper arms, stomach or upper legs. Avoid 5cm around your belly button.
During injection:
Insert the needle into your skin and make sure you can see the dose counter.
Hold down the dose button until the dose counter shows 0.
You may hear or feel a click when it returns to 0.
Remove the needle from your skin. Do not remove it before a full dose has been administered.
After injection:
Reattach the needle cap that you saved when attaching the needle.
Unscrew the needle and dispose of it in your sharps bin.
Put the main pen cap back and store it out of sunlight.
Please read the full Patient Information Leaflet that is provided in the Wegovy injection box before injecting.
Delivery and storage of Wegovy injections
As of April 2026, Wegovy pens can be delivered without ice packs at a temperature below 30°C for up to 48 hours (1). Once your pens arrive, you should store them in the fridge (between 2-8°C). Wegovy FlexTouch pens can be stored at room temperature (below 30°C) for 6 weeks (1). Always keep it out of direct sunlight and direct heat sources.
As FlexTouch pens can only be stored for 6 weeks at room temperature, you should store your 0.5mg pen in the fridge until you have completed your first month on the 0.25mg and are ready to increase your dose to 0.5mg.

-
The starter pack contains your first two months of Wegovy treatment: one 0.25mg FlexTouch pen for month one and one 0.5mg FlexTouch pen for month two. This means you complete a single consultation and receive both starting doses in one order, rather than reordering after your first month (1).
-
If it's been 5 days or less since your scheduled injection day, inject as soon as you remember, then continue with your next dose on your normal schedule. If it's been more than 5 days, skip the missed dose entirely and inject your next dose as usual on your next scheduled day. Do not double up to make up for a missed dose (2, 3).
-
Yes. You can change your weekly injection day as long as at least 3 days have passed since your last injection. Once you've picked a new day, continue with once-weekly dosing on that new schedule (2).
-
Not necessarily at the lowest dose. If you're already taking the Wegovy tablet and want to switch to the injection, your prescriber will advise on the correct starting dose based on your current tablet dose, since it may not be 0.25mg. This starter pack is designed for injection-naive patients starting from the beginning of the titration schedule. Anyone switching formulation should discuss the safest switching approach with their prescriber before ordering (1).
Important - Before taking any medication, it is always important to read the Patient Information Leaflet (PIL)
