Eyelash Growth Serum - Lumigan. Buy Online in the UK
Lumigan prescription strength eyelash serum can leave your natural lashes up to 106% thicker, 25% longer and 18% darker(LATISSE® Prescribing Information )
We supply prescription-only Bimatoprost Eyelash Serum under its brand name Lumigan. This is the same as Latisse in the US.
What is Lumigan Eyelash Serum?
Lumigan contains the medicine Bimatoprost which is similar to a naturally occurring chemical in the body called prostaglandin. Bimatoprost works by causing more lashes to grow and makes them grow longer and thicker before they naturally fall out.
Lumigan vs Latisse
Latisse and Lumigan UK are exactly the same medicine, they are given different brand names in different parts of the world. This is not unusual with medicines.
In 2001, the pharmaceutical company Allergan developed Lumigan eye drops to treat and lower high pressure inside the eye.
Many patients using these drops began to grow longer, fuller and darker lashes as a side effect. This led Allergan to study the medicine's active ingredient, Bimatoprost, for growing eyelashes.
After a clinical trial to study the safety and effectiveness for lash growth, Lumigan was launched as an eyelash serum called “Latisse” and approved by the FDA (USA regulatory body) in 2008.
Here in the UK, Lumigan is not approved for use as an eyelash serum. This means that we prescribe it “off-licence” - to understand more about what this means, read our article about Lumigan as an unlicensed medicine.
This means that the information leaflet you’ll receive with your lash serum will be written as if you are using the medicine for lowering ocular (eye) pressure and not as a lash serum.
The American product “Latisse” and our Lumigan Eyelash Serum contain the same active ingredient at the same strength (Bimatoprost 0.03%).
How do I order Lumigan Eyelash Serum?
You must complete a short medical consultation before our doctors will issue a prescription if suitable. Our pharmacy team will then package your lash serum and send it to you via tracked delivery.
Orders placed before 3 pm are usually sent out on the same day. If you’d like to see the questions we ask, you can read the medical consultation before you order.
You must fill out the consultation as we need to be sure that the treatment is safe and appropriate for you.
How is Lumigan different to other lash serums?
The medicine in Lumigan, Bimatoprost, is the first regulatory-approved medical product to grow lashes longer, fuller and darker. It has been widely studied for safety and effectiveness and is available only on prescription.
Other lash serums, especially non-prescription ones, usually contain vitamins or lash conditioners. They might make your lashes grow better by keeping them healthy, but this is often hard to prove.
How long does lash serum take to work?
Most users see a noticeable difference in 4 weeks, we recommend using Lumigan Eye Drops for Lashes for at least 16 weeks. This is the average length for a full eyelash growth cycle.
If you stop using the serum, your lashes will return to their original appearance over a couple of weeks to months.
How to apply Lumigan lash serum?
Lumigan Eyelash Serum comes as a solution (liquid). It should be applied using a clean brush to the upper lash line (the skin on your eyelid at the base of your upper eyelashes) once a day, usually in the evening.
Do not put Lumigan lash serum in your eye. If any serum does get into your eye, it does not need to be rinsed. Bimatoprost is an eye medicine that is unlikely to cause your eye harm.
We recommend you remove any makeup, clean the upper eyelids and remove contact lenses if you wear them. Contact lenses can be placed back in the eye 15 minutes after application.
Do not use Lumigan lash serum more often than once a day, this will not increase eyelash growth any more or any faster than the recommended use.
Is Lumigan lash serum safe?
No medicine is safe for every person, but Bimatoprost is considered safe for most people.
Bimatoprost has been used as an eye medicine since 2001, meaning hundreds of thousands of people have used it.
What are the potential side effects of Lumigan Eyelash Serum?
The most common side effect is skin itching or irritation on the lash line where it is applied, sometimes accompanied by redness. This was reported by around 4% of users in the clinical trial.
If this happens, please reach out to us for advice. We may recommend you stop using the lash serum.
It is also important that you do not apply too much of the serum. A careful, thin line is all you need and any excess product should be blotted with tissue.
Can I curl my lashes or use mascara while using Lumigan Lash Serum?
Yes, you can do both or either. Just remember to remove makeup before applying your serum.
Who can use Lumigan Lash Serum?
Almost anyone, the serum is available to anyone as long as you thoroughly complete your medical consultation and our team agree that it is suitable for you.
Please also note that we do not provide prescription products to individuals under 18.
Can I use Lumigan Eyelash Serum after using false lashes or getting extensions?
Yes, absolutely. Lumigan lash serum is a great way of rebuilding your natural lash strength after false lashes or extensions might have caused damage.

How do I use Lumigan?
To use Lumigan effectively, apply the solution with an eyeliner brush along the upper lash line. This application method enhances the length and volume of your eyelashes. Lumigan works by extending the growth cycle of the lashes, resulting in longer, thicker, and darker lashes.
How often should I apply Lumigan?
Apply Lumigan once nightly at the base of your upper eyelashes for optimal results. Noticeable improvements typically appear in about 4 weeks, with full results becoming evident within 12 to 16 weeks of continuous treatment. It's crucial to be cautious during application, as excessive use may cause pigmentation of the eyelids. After 12 weeks, a maintenance dose of every other night is recommended.
Lumigan Eyelash Serum Side Effects
While using Lumigan, there are some potential side effects to consider. Eyelid skin darkening may occur, but this is usually reversible. However, increased brown pigmentation of the coloured part of the eye can happen and is likely to be permanent, though this is a rare side effect and more common in individuals with mainly brown eyes.
Another possible effect is the growth of hair on the skin where Lumigan frequently comes into contact. If you have any pre-existing eye problems, it is essential to consult your doctor before using Lumigan to ensure its suitability for your condition.
Common side effects of Lumigan include itchy or red eyes. If you decide to discontinue using Lumigan, your lashes will gradually return to their previous appearance.
