- 25% longer eyelashes

- This prescription-strength eyelash serum is the same as the popular US product, Latisse.
What is Lumigan Eyelash Serum?
Lumigan eyelash growth serum is available for lash growth off-licence from Oxford Online Pharmacy. This pack of single dose drops are to be used as a serum applied to the eyelashes daily. This medicine contains the active ingredient Bimatoprost, a Prostaglandin analogue which is similar to a naturally occurring chemical in the body called prostaglandin.
Bimatoprost works in 3 different ways to enhance your lashes:
- Helps lashes to grow
- Makes lashes grow longer
- Makes lashes thicker
This prescription-strength eyelash serum changes the hair growth cycle so lashes spend longer growing before they naturally fall out.
What is a hair growth cycle?
Lashes grow in a cycle of 3 phases:
- Anagen (also known as the growth phase)
- Catagen (the degradation phase)
- Telogen (The resting phase, which is when some of the lashes fall out)
Lumigan eyelash serum prolongs the growth phase (Anagen phase) giving your lashes the chance to grow longer and thicker.
How long does lash serum take to work?
Most users see a noticeable difference in 4 weeks, we recommend using Lumigan Eye Drops for Lashes for at least 16 weeks. This is the average length for a full eyelash growth cycle.
If you stop using the Lash Growth Serum UK, your lashes will return to their original appearance over a couple of weeks to months.
How is Lumigan different to other lash serums?
There are plenty of eyelash serums online these days, but how do you know which is the best eyelash growing serum?
You can find a comparison between different types of lash serums below:
| Lash serum | Example | Ingredient | How it works | Prescription required |
| Prostaglandin lash serums | Lumigan Eyelash Serum | Bimatoprost | Prolongs the growth phase of the lash while shortening the falling-out phase. | Yes |
| Peptide lash serum | Lash Fuel™ Advanced Peptide Lash Serum | Peptides | Conditioning, strengthening and thickening lashes while preventing breakage. | No |
| Vitamin lash serum | Moon Boost Eyebrow and Lash Serum | Vitamins | Nourish and protect the lashes. | No |
| Caster oil lash serum | Castor Oil Lash Serum | Castor Oil | A traditional medicine to encourage lash development. | No |
The medicine in Lumigan, Bimatoprost, is the first regulatory-approved medical product to grow lashes longer, fuller and darker. It has been widely studied for safety and effectiveness and is available only on prescription.
Other lash serums, especially non-prescription ones, usually contain vitamins or lash conditioners. They might make your lashes grow better by keeping them healthy, but this is often hard to prove.

Lumigan vs Latisse
Latisse US and Lumigan UK are exactly the same medicine, they are given different brand names in different parts of the world. This is not unusual with medicines.
In 2001, the pharmaceutical company Allergan developed Lumigan eye drops to treat and lower high pressure inside the eye.
Many patients using these drops began to grow longer, fuller and darker lashes as a side effect. This led Allergan to study the medicine's active ingredient, Bimatoprost, for growing eyelashes.
After a clinical trial to study the safety and effectiveness of lash growth, Lumigan was launched as an eye lash serum called “Latisse” and approved by the FDA (USA regulatory body) in 2008. Here in the UK, Lumigan is not approved for use as an eyelash serum. This means that we prescribe it “off-licence” - to understand more about what this means, read our article about Lumigan as an unlicensed medicine.
This means that the information leaflet you’ll receive with your lash serum will be written as if you are using the medicine for lowering ocular (eye) pressure and not as a lash serum.
The American product “Latisse” and our Lumigan Eyelash Serum contain exactly the same active ingredient at exactly the same strength (Bimatoprost 0.03%).
Who can use Lumigan eyelash Serum?
Almost anyone, the serum is available to anyone as long as you thoroughly complete your medical consultation and our team agrees that it is suitable for you. Please also note that we do not provide prescription products to individuals under 18.

How to use Lumigan Eyelash Serum Drops 30 individual doses
How to apply lash serum
Lumigan lash serum for growth comes as a solution (liquid). It should be applied using a clean brush to the upper lash line (the skin on your eyelid at the base of your upper eyelashes) once a day, usually in the evening.
Do not put Lumigan eyelash lash growth serum UK in your eye. If any serum does get into your eye, it does not need to be rinsed. Bimatoprost is an eye medicine that is unlikely to cause your eye harm.
We recommend you remove any makeup, clean the upper eyelids and remove contact lenses if you wear them. Contact lenses can be placed back in the eye 15 minutes after application.
Do not use Lumigan lash serum more often than once a day, this will not increase eyelash growth any more or any faster than the recommended use.
How often should I apply Lumigan?
Apply Lumigan eye lash growth serum once nightly at the base of your upper eyelashes for optimal results. Noticeable improvements typically appear in about 4 weeks, with full results becoming evident within 12 to 16 weeks of continuous treatment.
It's crucial to be cautious during application, as excessive use may cause pigmentation of the eyelids. After 12 weeks, a maintenance dose of every other night is recommended.
Side effects of Lumigan Eyelash Serum Drops 30 individual doses
Lumigan Lash Serum side effects
While using Lumigan hair serum for lashes, there are some potential side effects to consider. Eyelid skin darkening may occur, but this is usually reversible. However, increased brown pigmentation of the coloured part of the eye can happen and is likely to be permanent, though this is a rare UK Lash side effect and more common in individuals with mainly brown eyes.
Another possible effect is the growth of hair on the skin where Lumigan frequently comes into contact. If you have any pre-existing eye problems, it is essential to consult your doctor before using Lumigan to ensure its suitability for your condition.
Common side effects of Lumigan include itchy or red eyes. If you decide to discontinue using Lumigan, your lashes will gradually return to their previous appearance.
For a full list of side effects and warnings, please refer to the patient information leaflet.

Applying Lumigan Lash Serum to the lower lashes is not recommended and not necessary.
