Like the seasons, our bodies can change throughout the year. For example, we might need different nutrients and vitamins depending on the nature of where we are, and what we are doing.
Throughout the summer months we are exposed to increased UV rays from the sun, and higher temperatures. Whilst most of us enjoy the warmer weather, we need to be mindful of the effects that it may have on the body. One of the ways that we can ensure we are looking after our body well in the summer is by ensuring we are getting the correct vitamins and nutrients.
Here we take a look at some vitamins and minerals that may be beneficial to include within your diet during the summer months:
Vitamin A is said to help repair the skin when it's been damaged from the sun. This is particularly useful if you have been out in the sun and suffered sun burn as a result.
Some research also suggests that an increased intake of Vitamin A may help to reduce the risk of some skin cancers.
Vitamin C is a good vitamin to include in your diet all year round as it contributes to a good immune system. It can also help with healthy skin, bones and joints so it is good to include if you are out in the sun for an active summer.
Vitamin E is also a good supplement to include as it has anti-allergen qualities which may help to reduce the impact of certain seasonal allergies. In addition to this, it is another vitamin that can help to protect the skin when it is exposed to increase heat.
