Zumenon (Estradiol) Tablets are a type of Hormone Replacement Therapy. The tablets contain the female hormone Oestrogen-Estradiol. They are used in postmenopausal women with at least 6 months since their last natural period to relieve the symptoms after menopause and who are switching from conventional (cyclic or sequential) HRT at their doctor's advice.
The active ingredient, estradiol, is similar to endogenous human estradiol in chemical and biological terms. It reduces menopausal symptoms by replacing the reduction of oestrogen production that happens throughout menopause. After menopause or an ovariectomy, oestrogens prevent bone loss.
This medicine is prescribed to help women who are going through menopause with their symptoms. Although menopause is a normal part of a woman's ageing process, it can result in crippling and difficult to manage symptoms.
Symptoms of menopause include:
- Headaches
- Vaginal dryness
- Hot flushes
- Irritability
- Bloating
- Sleeping problems
- Mood swings
- Night sweats
By reducing these symptoms, HRT medication like Zumenon can make menopause much easier to handle.
This medication is suitable for women that no longer have a womb. Women who still have their uterus intact will need to use a progesterone supplement alongside this medication.
