What is Wegovy?

Wegovy is a weight-loss medication that contains the active component semaglutide. Wegovy, like Saxenda (liraglutide), acts in a similar way to improve fullness and decrease appetite. It works by mimicking a hormone that targets brain areas involved with hunger and food intake regulation. This can help you consume less, resulting in weight loss.

The medicine was just approved in the United Kingdom, after its approval in the United States in 2021.

Adults aged 18 to 75 who have a BMI more than 30 can use Wegovy weight loss injections. Those with weight-related health issues, such as diabetes, may be eligible if their BMI is greater than 27.

What is the benefit of taking Wegovy?

Reduces hunger while increasing sensations of fullness.
If you have excess weight (BMI (Body Mass Index) 27) and weight-related medical concerns (such as high blood pressure or high cholesterol), you can use it.
In a 68-week research, people dropped 15% of their body weight on average.
When combined with low-calorie meals and increased physical exercise, this is an effective weight-loss method.
An alternative to tablet / capsules that can have unpleasant side effects
Wegovy comes in five doses ranging from 0.25 mg to 2.4 mg, each of which is injected once a week. Each dose is packaged in a different colour to aid recognition.
