The ointment contains a compound known as betamethasone valerate. This substance is part of a group of medications referred to as steroids, which are effective in decreasing inflammation and irritation.
TBetamethasone ointment is used to lessen the redness and itching associated with specific skin conditions like eczema, psoriasis, and dermatitis. The 'RD' stands for 'Ready Diluted', and it has a lower concentration of the active ingredient compared to Betnovate. It is used for:
- milder skin conditions, or
- maintaining control over your skin issue once it has improved with Betnovate.

How to use Betamethasone 0.025% RD Ointment 100g
Apply a thin layer to the affected area(s) and gently rub into the skin until it has all disappeared. You can measure how much Betamethasone RD ointment to use with your fingertip.
Side effects of Betamethasone 0.025% RD Ointment 100g
Stop using Betamethasone RD ointment and tell your doctor immediately if:
- You find that your skin condition gets worse, you develop a generalised rash, or your skin becomes swollen during treatment. You may be allergic to Betamethasone RD, have an infection or need other treatment.
- You have psoriasis and get raised bumps with pus under the skin. This can happen very rarely during or after treatment and is known as pustular psoriasis.
Other side effects you may notice when using this ointment include:

- A feeling of burning, pain, irritation or itching where the ointment is applied.
