What Aknemycin Plus is and what it is used for?

Aknemycin Plus is a topical treatment for acne.

Aknemycin Plus is a solution that contains two active ingredients: Erythromycin and Tretinoin. Erythromycin is an antibiotic that targets the bacteria responsible for acne and reduces skin inflammation.

Tretinoin promotes the peeling off of the layer of dead and hardened skin cells on the skin's surface. Simultaneously, it clears blackheads that clog skin pores and lead to the formation of acne. By unblocking pores, sebum can escape, limiting germ activity. Aknemycin Plus also helps dissolve excess skin oil.

Typically, you should apply Aknemycin Plus once or twice daily, as directed by your doctor. After each use, the applicator will close automatically.

Activating the applicator and applying the solution

Before each use, activate the applicator as described above and then apply the solution to the affected areas.

Duration of treatment

Continue using Aknemycin Plus for the duration specified by your doctor. The length of treatment will depend on the condition of your skin, usually lasting between 9 and 12 weeks. Consistent use of Aknemycin Plus is crucial.

It's essential to note that there might not be any noticeable improvement in your skin condition for several weeks after starting the treatment with Aknemycin Plus.

Like all medications, this medicine may have side effects, although not everyone experiences them. When you begin using Aknemycin Plus, your skin problem may initially appear to worsen, indicating that the medicine is starting to take effect. However, this should improve over time.

If you notice a serious skin reaction, such as a red scaly rash with bumps under the skin and blisters (exanthematous pustulosis), contact your doctor immediately. The frequency of this side effect is not known due to insufficient data for estimation.

In rare cases, Aknemycin Plus may cause skin irritation, leading to a sore, dry, or burnt sensation, or peeling. In very uncommon instances, these symptoms could be indicative of an allergic reaction. Should this occur, seek medical attention.

Additionally, the skin may rarely exhibit temporary changes in colour, becoming darker or lighter. Individuals with dark skin may observe a lightening effect where Aknemycin Plus has been applied, but this change is reversible, and the skin will return to its original colour after discontinuing the use of Aknemycin Plus.
