Post Menopause Hair Supplements

The TRX2® Post Menopause Hair Pack is designed specifically for women experiencing hair thinning or shedding after menopause. Combining two targeted supplements, the TRX2® Molecular Food Supplement for Hair and a Post Menopause Food Supplement, it aims to nourish hair from within by delivering a blend of key nutrients.

TRX2®’s proprietary potassium channel-stimulating complex targets hair follicle cells to extend the anagen (growth) period of the hair cycle, while the Post Menopause supplement formula addresses nutrient gaps and hormonal imbalances that may worsen hair loss in midlife.

Based on natural ingredients, vegetarian-friendly and free from artificial colours and flavours, the TRX2® Post Menopause Hair Pack is a food supplement bundle for postmenopausal women looking to restore confidence in their hair (1).

Product Information for TRX2 Post Menopause Hair Support Pack

What is the TRX2® Post Menopause Hair Pack and how is it different from a licensed hair loss medicine?

TRX2® Post Menopause Hair Pack is a food supplement bundle designed specifically for post-menopausal women experiencing hair thinning or loss. It contains the TRX2® Molecular Food Supplement for Hair which is marketed as the first hair supplement that contains potassium chloride, carnipure, niacin and biotin (1).

It is not a licensed hair loss treatment but instead marketed under the EU Food Supplements Directive 2002/46/EC and sold as a supporting nutritional aid.

What’s in the pack?

Each pack contains TRX2® Molecular Food Supplement for Hair and Post Menopause Food Supplement for Women 50+ created by Oxford Biolabs.

The TRX2® Molecular Food Supplement contains potassium chloride, Carnipure™ (branded L-Carnitine), nicotinamide (Niacin/Vitamin B3), biotin, zinc, selenium, and branched-chain amino acids (leucine, isoleucine and valine).

The Post Menopause Food Supplement for Women 50+ contains vitamin B6, pantothenic acid (vitamin B5), folic acid (vitamin B9), vitamin B12, vitamin D, calcium, iodine, magnesium, soya isoflavones, and flaxseed lignans (1).

The theory behind the combination of TRX2 supplements

This menopause hair supplement pack provides a dual-action approach to targeting hair thinning/loss.

The TRX2® Molecular Food Supplement has been created in response to the idea that dysregulation in potassium ion channels found in hair follicles, which are responsible for regulating nutrient uptake, are responsible for hair thinning and shedding (2). The TRX2® supplements aim to reactivate these potassium ion channels to improve the supply of nutrients to hair follicles to better support healthy hair growth.

Meanwhile the Post Menopause Food Supplement for Women 50+ is designed to boost your levels of a variety of naturally occurring nutrients in a simple, easy to take tablet. This works alongside the TRX2® to deliver those vital nutrients to reactivated hair follicles.

It is important to note that this is a proprietary theory only, and at the present time, there is limited clinical evidence that supports it (1,3).

When will I see results?

Everyone is different and results can vary quite widely depending on your individual circumstances. Information from the manufacturer reports first results occurring anywhere from 3-12 months. As with any nutritional supplement, there is no guarantee of results. However, in the manufacturer’s own 2011 randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical study, 87% of people reported significant improvement in the thickness and quality of their hair (3).

Who is the TRX2® Post Menopause Hair Pack suitable for?

The TRX2® Post Menopause Hair Pack has been developed for post-menopausal women with pattern hair loss. It is not marketed as suitable for pre-menopausal women, or men (1).

Can I take the TRX2® Post Menopause Hair Pack alongside a licensed hair loss treatment?

Yes, for the best results, it is recommended that you take these supplements alongside a licensed hair loss treatment such as topical Minoxidil. These types of hair loss therapies have been clinically proven to be both safe and effective as part of the licensing process. Can I take the TRX2® Post Menopause Hair Pack alongside HRT or other hormone therapy?

There are currently no known contraindications between the TRX2® Post Menopause Hair Pack and standard HRT or other hormone-based therapies. However, you should always disclose any current medications that you are taking to your prescriber before starting any new supplement.

TRX2 Post Menopause Hair Support Pack reviews

How to use TRX2 Post Menopause Hair Support Pack

Take 3 x TRX2® Molecular Food Supplements and 2 x Post Menopause Hair Supplements each day. All 5 capsules can be taken at the same time, although the manufacturer, Oxford Biolabs, also suggests that you take 1 x TRX2® supplement with each main meal throughout the day, and both Post Menopause capsules together at breakfast.

Take your TRX2® Post Menopause Hair Pack capsules with water. The manufacturer also advises against taking the capsules with alcohol, as they state that this could hamper nutrient absorption, although there is no clinical evidence to support this claim.

Can I take it with other supplements or medication?

We strongly recommend that you speak to your GP before starting any new supplement, particularly if you are taking any medications or already taking other supplements.

It has been suggested that you should not take the TRX2® Post Menopause Hair Pack if you:

Are taking any hormone therapies (HRT, tamoxifen, other aromatase inhibitors such as those used to treat women who have experienced breast cancer) due to the soya isoflavone and flaxseed lignan content. There is not enough evidence to confirm whether these ingredients are safe to be used with hormone medications.

Are taking anticoagulants. This is because L-carnitine may increase the anticoagulant effect in some types of this medication (5) although evidence to support this is limited.

If you are unsure if you can take the TRX2® Post Menopause hair pack, consult with a licensed healthcare professional.

Storage

You should store these hair supplements out of sight and reach of children and vulnerable adults. Keep them in their original container and do not use them after the expiry date, which refers to the last day of the month printed on the label.

Side effects of TRX2 Post Menopause Hair Support Pack

There is a possibility that you may experience side effects from taking these hair loss supplements. Reported common side effects include:

  • nausea

  • vomiting

  • abdominal cramps

  • heartburn

  • gastritis

  • diarrhoea

  • body odour

More significant reported side effects include seizures, restlessness and interference with thyroid medication. However, these are thought to be an effect of L-Carnitine, which is an ingredient in this supplement, rather than associated with TRX2 trial findings (6).

Who should check with a healthcare professional before taking TRX2® Post Menopause Hair Pack?

We recommend that everyone checks with a healthcare professional before starting a new supplement, particularly if you are already taking other medications or supplements. The manufacturer’s advice states that you should particularly use caution and speak to your GP first if you:

  • are taking anticoagulants

  • are taking anti-diabetes medication, or with diabetes/glucose intolerance

  • regularly consume large quantities of alcohol

  • experience frequent gout attacks despite uricosuric therapy

  • take any sort of regular medication

  • have liver or kidney disease

  • have uncontrolled hypertension or heart disease

  • are anaemic

  • have porphyria

  • have digestive system disorders (1)

Warnings and cautions

We have listed above the conditions and medications that should particularly be taken into consideration when starting the TRX2® Post Menopause Hair Pack. However, we would always advise that if you take any other medications or supplements, you speak to your GP to check the safety of adding another into your existing combination.

TRX2® Hair Pack supplements are free from FALPCA-defined major allergens (milk, eggs, fish, crustacean shellfish, tree nuts, wheat, peanuts, soybeans) but are made on shared manufacturing equipment so cross-contamination can’t be fully excluded.

You should also avoid taking the supplements in the TRX2® Post Menopause Hair Pack if you are allergic to any of the ingredients contained in either of the capsules. You can find a full list of ingredients on the manufacturer’s website.

These supplements are suitable for vegetarians, but not vegans (1).

Note for pregnancy/breastfeeding

The effects of using the TRX2® Post Menopause Hair Pack have not been assessed in women who are pregnant or breastfeeding. Therefore, it is not recommended to be taken during this time (1).
