If your latest Wegovy delivery arrived without an ice pack and didn’t feel cold when you opened it, don’t worry. This was a planned change.
In April 2026, the MHRA approved Wegovy for transport at temperatures of up to 30°C for 48 hours, meaning it no longer needs refrigerated packaging during delivery (1). Your pen is the same Wegovy you’ve always received. Only the way it travels to you has changed.
Here is what this means in practice and what you should do when your order arrives.

Why doesn’t Wegovy arrive cold anymore?
Until recently, Wegovy had to stay refrigerated throughout its journey from manufacturer to patient. This is called cold-chain transport, and it’s used to protect medicines from being affected by heat during delivery.
That requirement changed in April 2026, when the MHRA approved a 48-hour delivery window at temperatures up to 30°C (1). The European Medicines Agency made the same decision for EU countries earlier that month (2). This followed testing showing that Wegovy stays stable at these temperatures during normal delivery times.
Wegovy is currently the only GLP-1 weight-management treatment in the UK approved for delivery without refrigerated packaging to patients.
How does the delivery work now?
Wegovy is still stored under refrigerated conditions for most of its journey. It remains temperature-controlled during manufacturing and distribution, and is kept in pharmacy fridges until it’s dispensed.
The difference now is the final stage of delivery to your home. Once your prescription is prepared, FlexTouch pens are sent using Royal Mail 48-hour tracked delivery (excluding Wegovy 7.2mg single dose device), which falls within the MHRA-approved transport window of up to 48 hours at temperatures below 30°C.
Because refrigeration is no longer required during this last part of the journey, parcels now arrive in a standard cardboard box without insulation or ice packs. The delivery timeframe, ordering process, and price remain exactly the same.
If your delivery is significantly delayed, contact our team so we can advise on next steps.
Is this still the same Wegovy as before?
When receiving a parcel that looks different from usual, it’s completely reasonable to question whether the medicine inside has changed as well. Rest assured that nothing about the medicine is different — only how it gets from our pharmacy to your door.
You’re still receiving the same Wegovy medicine (Semaglutide), in identical FlexTouch pens, at the same strength you ordered. The ingredients, how the treatment works, and how effective it is in supporting weight loss are the same as before.
The only difference is the packaging used during delivery. Because insulation is no longer required, the box may feel smaller and lighter than before.
Is Wegovy still safe if it arrived at room temperature?
Yes. It’s completely safe to use. It can feel worrying if your pen doesn’t arrive cold, especially if previous deliveries always did. But this isn’t a decision made by Oxford Online Pharmacy or a change made to packaging for convenience or to cut costs. It’s a formal regulatory approval.
The MHRA only approved this change after reviewing evidence showing Wegovy stays stable during delivery at temperatures of up to 30°C for up to 48 hours. This reflects something that was already true about the medicine. Once you start using a Wegovy FlexTouch pen, it can safely be kept below 30°C for up to 6 weeks (3).
Although the packaging may look different now, the delivery guidance has simply been updated to match what we already knew about how stable Wegovy is.

Does the new delivery process apply to all Wegovy pens?
The updated delivery guidance applies to all Wegovy FlexTouch multi-dose pens:
0.25mg
0.5mg
1.0mg
1.7mg
2.4mg
It does not apply to the 7.2mg single-dose pen, which still comes in refrigerated packaging. This pen has only recently been approved itself, and its delivery guidance has not yet been updated in the same way that the delivery process for the FlexTouch pen has been (4).
If you’re prescribed three 2.4mg FlexTouch injections as part of a 7.2mg dosing schedule, those pens are covered by the new delivery guidance and won’t come refrigerated.
What should I do when my Wegovy arrives?
This part hasn’t changed. The only thing that’s different is how Wegovy is delivered to you.
Once your parcel arrives, place your pens in the fridge as soon as you can. Wegovy should be stored between 2°C and 8°C before first use, just as it always has been (3). Store them away from the cooling element and in their original packaging.
Once you begin using a FlexTouch pen, it can be kept below 30°C for up to 6 weeks. The 7.2mg single-dose pen can be kept below 30°C for up to 28 days after supply (5). If a pen has been accidentally frozen at any point, it should not be used.
Importantly, the time your medication spends in transit does not reduce how long you can safely store it at home. You can continue using your pens exactly as you always have.
Still unsure about your delivery?
It’s completely normal to have questions when something about your medication arrives looking different from usual. If anything about your Wegovy delivery doesn’t feel clear, our pharmacy team is always happy to talk it through with you.

Frequently asked questions
Can I request cold-chain delivery instead?
Following updated manufacturer guidance, Wegovy is now supplied using standard delivery across the UK, so refrigerated delivery is no longer offered as a separate option.
Does this change how I can travel with my Wegovy injections?
As usual, you can store them under 30 degrees for up to 6 weeks so can transport without cold storage which is the same as always.
Has this change been approved by a regulator?
Yes. The MHRA approved the updated delivery conditions in April 2026, with the EMA making the same decision earlier the same month.
The leaflet says store at 2–8°C. Why didn’t my parcel arrive cold?
The leaflet explains how to store Wegovy at home before use. Separate guidance now allows it to be transported for up to 48 hours at temperatures below 30°C during delivery.
What if in summer it reaches above 30°C?
Even on hot days, UK temperatures rarely stay above 30°C for long. If you’re concerned about a specific delivery during a heatwave, our team can help check this with you.
