Estring (Estradiol) 7.5mg Vaginal Ring 1 is a Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT). The active component in the Estring vaginal delivery system, estradiol hemihydrate, a naturally occurring version of the primary female sex hormone, oestrogen, is found in a vaginal ring.
As women get closer to menopause, their ovaries gradually generate less oestrogen (also known as "the transition"). Low oestrogen levels can result in symptoms like vaginal dryness, irritation, or itching, which can therefore make sexual activity difficult or irritating and raise the risk of urinary or vaginal infections.
As part of hormone replacement treatment (HRT), the Estring vaginal delivery device works locally in the vagina to maintain adequate amounts of oestrogen to reduce these symptoms in postmenopausal women. Although, other menopause symptoms like hot flushes and night sweats are not treated by it.

How to use Estring (Estradiol) 7.5mcg Vaginal Ring 1
Always use this medicine exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Please read the patient information leaflet before use.
To insert the Estring vaginal delivery system into your vagina: Wash your hands thoroughly. Relax and find a position which feels comfortable for you. Either stand with one foot on a chair or lie on your back with your knees bent up. With one hand, open the folds of skin around the vagina. With the other hand, press the ring into an oval. Push the ring into your vagina as far as it will go - upwards and backward towards the small of the back. Finally, wash your hands.
The ring should be worn continuously for 3 months, and then replaced with a new ring.

Since you just need to replace the Estring (estradiol vaginal ring) every three months, it is more convenient than other types of oestrogen therapy, but it must be put directly into the vagina. To make sex more enjoyable, Vagifem (estradiol vaginal tablet) treats dryness and inflammation in the vagina.
-
Estring (estradiol), like all oestrogen replacement therapies, has the potential to result in major health issues such as breast cancer and strokes. Long-term usage of estrogen-related drugs increases the risk.
-
No need to worry. It’s rare, but has been reported in cases of intense coughing or straining. If this happens, just rinse the ring with lukewarm water and reinsert it. Do not wash the ring in hot water.
Important - Before taking any medication, it is always important to read the Patient Information Leaflet (PIL)
Estring (Estradiol) 7.5mcg Vaginal Ring 1 - Patient Information Leaflet
All hormone replacement therapy should be initiated after a discussion with a health care professional face to face as they will also need to take your blood pressure and weight. Blood tests may also be requested. This is followed after three months with a follow-up appointment. Online prescribing can only be done once this has happened.
