Sandrena (Estradiol) 0.5mg Sachet is a Hormone Replacement Therapy. It contains the female hormone Oestrogen-Estradiol. It is used to relieve the symptoms occurring after menopause.
Sandrena gel is an alcohol-based product, when the gel touches the skin the alcohol within it evaporates quickly enabling the estradiol to be absorbed through the skin and straight into the bloodstream. Once the estradiol is in the body the menopause symptoms will start to ease.
The amount of oestrogen generated by a woman's body decreases throughout menopause. This may result in symptoms like "hot flushes," or a warm face, neck, and chest. Sandrina reduces these symptoms following menopause. Sandrena will only be prescribed if your symptoms significantly interfere with your daily life.
The Sandrena gel can be used in both women with a womb and women who have undergone a hysterectomy.
However, it is recommended for women who still have a womb to use a progesterone-only HRT alongside Sandrena gel as this will lower the risks associated with HRT. This method is not required in women who do not have a womb and have had a hysterectomy.Â

In order to treat your symptom for only as long as necessary, your doctor will try to prescribe the lowest amount possible. If you feel that this dose is either too strong or not strong enough, talk to your doctor. Estradiol should be taken daily in doses of between 0.5 mg and 1.5 mg.

All hormone replacement therapy should be initiated after a discussion with a health care professional face to face as they will also need to take your blood pressure and weight. Blood tests may also be requested. This is followed after three months with a follow-up appointment. Online prescribing can only be done once this has happened.
