Spedra (Avanafil) are prescription-only tablets that contain the active ingredient Avanafil. This belongs to a group of medicines called Phosphodiesterase Type 5 (PDE5) inhibitors and works by increasing the blood flow to the penis. Spedra is taken to treat men with erectile dysfunction, which is the inability to achieve or maintain an erection sufficient for sexual performance. In order for Spedra to be fully effective, sexual stimulation is required. Once the tablet is taken, it can start to work as quickly as 15 minutes and could last up to 6 hours.
In the resting stage, the penis is soft and spongy and it becomes firmer (an erection) when blood rushes into the tissue.
Sometimes the blood flowing into the penis isn't as powerful as it should be, which prevents a full or long-lasting erection from occurring. This condition is referred to as erectile dysfunction or ED.
The blood flow might become weakened for a variety of causes. We usually advise new Spedra customers to have a heart check with their doctor because one of these causes could be that fatty plaque buildup has caused the blood arteries supplying the penis to become narrower. ED may present as an early warning sign of heart disease.
The Spedra branded tablets are available on prescription from OxfordOnlinePharmacy there isn't yet a generic brand available, the other brand of Avanafil is called Stendra, an American brand medication that is exactly the same as the UK brand, Spedra.
