Lenzetto is an HRT treatment that replaces the hormone oestrogen in women experiencing symptoms associated with oestrogen deficiency after menopause. Lenzetto is a spray solution containing a hormone called estradiol, a natural oestrogen.
To raise oestrogen levels and lessen menopause symptoms including vaginal dryness and hot flashes, lenzetto is sprayed directly into the skin and absorbed into the bloodstream.
Lenzetto spray comes in 6.5 ml bottles with 56 sprays in each bottle. It can be used in conjunction with a progesterone-only form of HRT by women whose last period was more than six months ago, those who have had hysterectomies, or even those who still have an intact uterus.
This medication is suitable for use by peri / post-menopausal women with a uterus when combined with a progesterone medication for example Utrogestan 100mg capsules from Oxford Online Pharmacy.

How to use Lenzetto (Estradiol) 1.53mg transdermal spray solution 56 doses
The spray should be applied to the dry and healthy skin of the inner forearm. If that is not possible, it should be applied to the inner thigh.
Do not apply Lenzetto to the breasts or any area near the breasts.
How to apply Lenzetto
- Before a new applicator is used for the first time, the pump should be primed by spraying it three times with the cover on.
- Lenzetto is administered once daily, either as a monotherapy or as a continuous sequential treatment (when combined with a progestogen).
One metered-dose spray is administered once daily to the dry and healthy skin of the forearm as a starting dose. The dose may be increased to two metered-dose sprays daily to the forearm based on clinical response. Dose increase should be based on the degree of the woman's menopausal symptoms and should be made only after at least 4 weeks of continuous treatment with Lenzetto. The maximum daily dose is 3 metered-dose sprays (4.59 mg/day) to the forearm. Dose increase should be discussed with a doctor or pharmacist. For patients who have difficulty applying the prescribed dose to distinct, non-overlapping areas of the same forearm, Lenzetto may also be applied to sites on the alternate forearm, or to sites on the inner thigh.

these may return or become worse during treatment with Lenzetto. If so, you should see your doctor
more often for check-ups:
- Fibroids inside your womb
- Growth of womb lining outside your womb (endometriosis) or a history of excessive growth of the womb lining (endometrial hyperplasia)
- Increased risk of developing blood clots (see “Blood clots in a vein (thrombosis)”)
- Increased risk of getting oestrogen-sensitive cancer (such as having a mother, sister or grandmother who has had breast cancer)
- high blood pressure
- A liver disorder such as a benign liver tumour
- Diabetes
- Gallstones
- Migraine or severe headaches
- A disease of the immune system that affects many organs of the body (systemic lupus erythematosus, SLE)
- Epilepsy
- Asthma
- A disease affecting the eardrum and hearing (otosclerosis)
- A very high level of fat in your blood (triglycerides)

Stop using Lenzetto and see a doctor immediately If you notice any of the following when using HRT:
- Any of the conditions mentioned in the “DO NOT use Lenzetto” section;
- Yellowing of your skin or the whites of your eyes (jaundice). These may be signs of a liver disease
- Swollen face, tongue and/or throat and/or difficulty swallowing or hives, together with difficulty breathing which are suggestive of an angioedema
- A large rise in your blood pressure (symptoms may be headache, tiredness, dizziness)
- Migraine-like headaches which happen for the first time

- If you notice signs of a blood clot, such as
- Painful swelling and redness of the legs
- Sudden chest pain
- Difficulty in breathing
-
One to three sprays of Lenzetto per day are the most typical dosage. However, due to differences in how oestrogen is absorbed via skin compared to other women, many women require larger amounts.
-
Increases in dosage should only be given following doctors advice at least 4 weeks of continuous Lenzetto medication and would depend on the severity of your menopausal symptoms. Three metered-dose sprays (4.59 mg/day) to the forearm are the maximum daily dosage.
-
When sprayed onto the skin as instructed, it enters your bloodstream through the skin. The amount of oestrogen generated by a woman's body decreases throughout the menopause. This may result in symptoms like "hot flushes," or a warm face, neck, and chest. After menopause, lenzetto relieves these signs and symptoms.
-
Likely duration of treatment:
Your doctor will determine the course of treatment based on symptoms and risk. Ideally 2-3 years past the perimenopausal stage. -
The spray should be applied to clean, dry, healthy skin of the inner forearm, in areas that do not overlap. It should be administered on the inner thigh if that is not possible. Apply it to your tummy for better absorption; avoid applying it to your breasts or any place close to them.
-
Initially believed to be stronger than Oestrogel, it is now understood that 3 sprays of Lenzetto are roughly similar to 2 pumps of Oestrogel or a 50 mcg patch..
-
Lenzetto is a spray solution that contains a hormone called estradiol, an oestrogen that occurs naturally. When sprayed as instructed onto the skin, it enters the bloodstream through the skin and circulates throughout the body to relieve symptoms
-
HRT can typically be started as soon as menopausal symptoms appear; testing are typically not required beforehand. However, if you are between the ages of 40 and 45, a blood test to check your hormone levels may be done.
-
If several months have passed and your menopause symptoms have not lessened, this can be one of the indications that HRT is not helping you. You may need to take more oestrogen, which is part of your HRT regimen. Before adjusting your dose, make sure you?talk to your doctor; they might advise attempting a different approach.
-
Many women think that using HRT will cause them to gain weight, although there is no proof for this. While weight gain during the menopause is possible, it frequently occurs whether or not HRT is used.
Important - Before taking any medication, it is always important to read the Patient Information Leaflet (PIL)
Lenzetto (Estradiol) 1.53mg transdermal spray solution 56 doses - Patient Information Leaflet
All hormone replacement therapy should be initiated after a discussion with a health care professional face to face as they will also need to take your blood pressure and weight. Blood tests may also be requested. This is followed after three months with a follow-up appointment. Online prescribing can only be done once this has happened.
