Why is this test important?
Around 90% of people who suffer from gastric ulcers are infected with Helicobacter pylori (H. Pylori). The prescence of H. Pylori bacteria in the lining of the stomach or instestine can lead to a stomach ulcer and/or cancer.
It is therefore important to detect these bacteria and to get teratment to eliminate the infection as soon as possible.
During an infection with H Pylori, your immune system prodcues antibodies that are easily detectable in a blood sample.
You may get a positive result if you have recently been treated for H. Pylori
