Biotin, also known as vitamin B7, is an essential nutrient for helping to maintain healthy hair. It does this by supporting your natural production of keratin, the protein responsible for keeping hair strong.
Sons hair vitamin Biotin is a daily B7 supplement designed to support healthy hair. It usually forms part of a wider hair loss treatment plan for men and women worried about hair loss, complementing proven therapies such as Minoxidil.
Product Information for Sons Hair Vitamin Biotin 30 Capsules (B7)
What is Sons Hair Vitamin Biotin (B7)?
Sons Hair Vitamin B7 is an oral supplement taken to support hair health. It is rarely taken as a standalone treatment. Instead, it is usually taken alongside clinically proven hair loss treatments like topical Minoxidil solution or Minoxidil tablets, as part of a wider, clinician-managed hair loss treatment plan.
Each capsule contains 900µg of vitamin B7.
How does Biotin help hair loss?
B7 is an essential nutrient in creating keratin; which is the protein responsible for the structure of skin, hair and nails (1). Keratin smooths, reinforces and strengthens hair so that it looks and feels healthier (2). While biotin supplements are most effective for people with a deficiency in this vitamin, which is quite rare, it can be a useful addition to a hair care routine, particularly if your diet is lacking in biotin.
Since hair growth is a biological process, occurring in a repeating cycle of four different phases, getting results from Biotin supplements (alongside a proven hair loss treatment) does take time (3).
How long will it take to see results?
Hair growth is a natural, biological process. This means that results are not immediate. You may start to notice an improvement in hair health at around 6-12 months after starting treatment, provided you are consistent with your hair loss treatment plan (6).

Side effects of Sons Hair Vitamin Biotin 30 Capsules (B7)
Unlike licensed medications, supplements such as Sons Hair Vitamin Biotin B7 do not have an official, frequency-based side effects profile. The NHS states that there is not enough evidence to know the effects of taking daily doses of biotin supplements (4).
If you experience any symptoms of an allergic reaction, such as swelling of your throat, tongue, mouth or face, difficulty breathing or an extensive rash, discontinue use immediately and seek medical help.
You should not take Biotin supplements if you are allergic to any of the ingredients:
Rice flour
Capsule Shell HPMC
Magnesium Stearate
Silicon Dioxide
Biotin
Note: high levels of Biotin can affect the results of some types of laboratory tests, including thyroid function tests. You should let your doctor know you are taking Biotin supplements before having any medical tests.
Can you take Biotin supplements if you are pregnant or breastfeeding?
If you are trying to conceive, pregnant or breastfeeding, we recommend that you speak to your prescriber before starting Biotin supplements. While Biotin is a naturally occurring protein, there is limited evidence about the impact that high dose supplements may have during conception, pregnancy or breastfeeding (5).
-
Yes. Sons Biotin supplements can be considered a complementary treatment for clinically-proven treatments like Minoxidil, Finasteride and Dutasteride rather than a standalone solution for hair loss.
-
There is not enough clinical evidence to know the effect that high doses of Biotin supplements may have during conception, pregnancy or breastfeeding. Always speak to your clinician before starting treatment (5).
-
Biotin is a supplement usually suitable for use in both men and women. However, always speak to your clinician before starting any new medication or supplement.
-
There is no clinical evidence to suggest that Biotin alone can stop or reverse hair loss. However, it could support a clinician-led hair loss treatment program.
-
Most people can get enough Biotin from their food if they eat a healthy, nutritious and well-balanced diet. However, people who are naturally low in Biotin may benefit from supplements in addition to trying to increase intake through their diet. However, it is important to note that getting surplus Biotin in your diet does not necessarily mean better or faster results.
-
Do not take extra capsules to make up for the missed dose. Instead take your next dose as normal.
